Thom Newton

Managing Partner

Thom Newton

Thom came relatively late to the design industry, first studying politics and training for a career in Westminster. Having moved into communications, he worked at creative agencies that included Coley Porter Bell, Fitch and Bamber Forsyth.

As a founder member of 35 Communications, he has worked to develop our approach and methodology and leads our marketing and communications strategy. He also helped develop many of our workshop and consultation tools and takes a leading role in the ongoing development and delivery of our trends and research services.

Over the last five years he has helped develop many of our client’s brand strategies, working with non-commercial organisations that include the BBC, the Learning and Skills Council, Wellcome Trust, the Home Office and Equality and Human Rights Commission, and businesses that include Tesco, GlaxoSmithKline, Associated British Foods and Centrica.

Thom has also written extensively for the design and communications media on subjects ranging from branding in government to the integration of digital services in the design industry.

Our people

Everyone at 35 is a thinker and a doer. Our teams are composed of consultants, planners, designers, writers, account managers and production specialists. We have proven expertise in a diverse range of projects for some of the world's leading organisations. We also have enquiring minds and plenty of energy and ambition.

When you work with us you buy into a bespoke approach to brand communications: the best ideas, and the capability to bring them to life. We think as much about how we work as we do about the work itself.

Most design businesses care passionately about producing fantastic work. But we care just as much about our clients, so the processes and skills behind the work are every bit as important to us. We aim to provide the best client service, and draw on our close relationships with specialist suppliers of print, photography, copywriting and brand experience. Our partnership approach allows us to offer the flexibility and responsiveness that’s at the heart of all long-term relationships.
